History/Science
History
This past week in History, our scholars learned where San Antonio and Texas
are located on the US map. Scholars also learned 50 states make up the United
States and these states are made up of towns and cities.
To allow our B&M scholars some time to acclimate to the
classroom, our scholars will re-visit “How to Read a Map” on Monday. A new
topic of our Early Explorers will be introduced to our scholars Thursday. We
will discuss the Vikings, Amerigo Vespucci and Matthew Henson!
Science
Last week in Science, we
reviewed the last of the five senses: the sense of taste and wrapped up our
Five Senses Unit with a review and assessment.
This coming week, our
scholars will re-visit “Our Five Senses” with an activity on Tuesday and will
re-visit “Healthy Habits” on Wednesday. We
will wrap up the week with another “Healthy Habits” activity on Friday for
Early Release.
Math
Last week Kindergarten Mathematicians continued to count sets and learned how to form the number symbols that are used to communicate numerical amounts. Kindergartners should remember to use the Spalding method of forming numerals. Please reference the videos for more information.
This week we will begin to talk about deconstruction of sets by taking a whole and dividing the whole into two parts and graphing. On Wednesday we will conduct a Unit 2 Review and begin to explore numbers 1 – 10.
Please Submit the Following Assignments:
Tuesday 9/15: p. 49
Wednesday 9/16: pgs. 50 – 53
Thursday 9/17: Sets of 6, 7 and 8 Beginning of Unit Project (see video)

Next week, we will review all previously learned material and the phonograms n and p.

They will look closely at 2 folktales from the continent of Africa, “Tug
of War” and “Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears”.
