Kinder Blog 8 Nov.

Hello Kinder! Happy November. Little minds are working hard here on campus and in DL. As a reminder, as the weather gets colder, please remember to send your scholars in non-pop culture warm attire. Joke of the week: I travel around the world, yet I stay in the same corner. What am I?" Last weeks answer: None of them--it's a coconut tree. Our Kinder team:

Spalding This week, we worked on isolating beginning, middle and ending sounds, focused on identifying vowels and consonant sounds. We were introduced to new phonograms and came up with rhyming words.

Next week, we will be reviewing all learned phonograms, all learned words, and be introduced to the pink notebook. Scholars will begin writing words this coming week!

Math This week in math we have investigated flat shapes.  Kindergarten mathematicians will now begin to explore 3d shapes and discover the 2d characteristics of cubes, cones, cylinders, rectangular prisms and spheres.  On Wednesday we will have a cone party.  Scholars will cover their own party hat and have a special cone shaped treat for snack.  Have your scholar conduct a 3d shape hunt at home.

Brick and Mortar:

Wednesday:  Please send in a small, empty box and empty paper towel rolls in with your student. We will be using these items to conduct 3d shape investigations

This coming week, our scholars will wrap up plants and we would like to ask that scholars bring in parts of a plant, examples of plant clippings, leaves, flowers, seeds, etc. Put them in a small bag and send them in on Monday 11/09. We will be making "stained glass" art with these pieces.
