Spalding
This week, we worked on isolating beginning, middle and ending sounds, focused on identifying vowels and consonant sounds. We were introduced to new phonograms and came up with rhyming words.
Next week, we will be reviewing all learned phonograms, all learned words, and be introduced to the pink notebook. Scholars will begin writing words this coming week!
Math
This week in math we have investigated flat shapes. Kindergarten mathematicians will now begin to explore 3d shapes and discover the 2d characteristics of cubes, cones, cylinders, rectangular prisms and spheres. On Wednesday we will have a cone party. Scholars will cover their own party hat and have a special cone shaped treat for snack. Have your scholar conduct a 3d shape hunt at home. .
Brick and Mortar:
Wednesday: Please send in a small, empty box and empty paper towel rolls in with your student. We will be using these items to conduct 3d shape investigations

History
This past week in History, our scholars continued and finished our discussion on the continents
of Europe and Australia. This coming week our scholars will wrap up the seven continents. Science In Science, scholars were introduced to the life cycle and introduced the importance of George

This coming week, our scholars will wrap up plants and we would like to ask that scholars bring in parts of a plant, examples of plant clippings, leaves, flowers, seeds, etc. Put them in a small bag and send them in on Monday 11/09. We will be making "stained glass" art with these pieces.
Literature
This past week we went over the story of the Bremen Musicians who were animal characters. Our story this week centers around another animals. Scholars will hear about the story of a little “duckling’s journey” from Hans Christian Anderson “The Ugly Duckling”. Scholars will discover the true identity of “The Ugly Duckling”
We will continue to read Mrs. Piggle Wiggle out loud.
