This week in mathematics our Kindergarten Mathematicians have been exploring new vocabulary and matching items. Next week, there will be new vocabulary presented as well as an introduction on sorting and placing items into sets.  There will be three grades taken next week:

Monday p. 8

Tuesday p. 10

These assignments will need to be sent to your teacher.  Please see the instructional video in our Google Classrooms to find out how to upload and send assignments on your phone.

Literature:

Scholars will continue to explore fairy tales through listening to “The Three Little Pigs”. We will continue the conversation about the characters, setting, and order of events!  Scholars will finish the week by completing their own artwork drawings of the wolf, a pig, and each of the pigs houses.

We will continue the read aloud with Pippi Longstocking!

History/Science:

This week in Science, our Kinder scholars reviewed Germs and how to practice effective hand washing, coughing and sneezing practices to minimize contamination. We also learned the importance of our skin, how to clean scrapes and how to apply band-aids. We learned who Nurse Lyndsey is and when we can/cannot visit her. Scholars wrapped up the week with Maps and Globes in History! We learned the characteristics of a map/globe and how they are both important to us.

In History, scholars will continue the Maps and Globes unit with a new topic on Map Keys/Legends! They will learn how a map key and legend are helpful when using a map. They will also learn about Cardinal Directions, the Compass Rose and how to identify these features on a map.

In science, scholars will learn the importance of good nutrition, sleep and exercise accompanied with a read aloud video for “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” Next, our scholars will also be introduced to the organs that operate the five senses and the importance of these senses. This lesson is also accompanied with another read aloud video for “My Five Senses” by Semi The Racoon.
