Our scholars will learn about the following this upcoming week: North and South Poles, hemispheres and the equator. We will finish the unit with a Map & Globe Review and Assessment on Thursday.

Science

In Science this past week, our scholars continued learning the five senses and focused on the sense of touch and smell.

Our scholars will continue learning about the individual 5 senses including the sense of sight and the sense of hearing.  Scholars will wrap up the week with a science activity for Friday’s early release.

Math

Last week our Kindergarten Mathematicians wrapped up the first unit in math:  Matching and Sorting.  Scholars are now working on numbers from 1 - 5.  This week we will continue learning about sets, practicing numeral formations, and matching the correct number card with items in a set. To extend learning have your scholar build sets of items and label the set by writing the corresponding number or matching with the correct number card.

Please submit the following assignments to Google Classroom:

Monday:  Project Page (see video)

Tuesday:  Textbook p. 31

Wednesday:  Activity Book p. 8

 Spalding

This week in Spalding, the scholars reviewed the alphabet, discussed top line, mid-point, and base line on Spalding paper.  They practiced isolating beginning and ending sounds in words and learned the phonograms: f, g, s, and qu. Scholars finished learning all their line formations and were introduced to capital letters. The scholars progress will be assessed on Monday the 31st.

Next week, we will continue working on isolating beginning and ending sounds and will work with middle sounds in words. In addition, scholars will be introduced to the following phonograms: b, e, h, i, u. They will learn about rhyming words and practice the letter formation of their newly learned phonograms.
