Kinder Blog 15 Nov.

Hello Kinder! We had such a great time at the book fair this week.  Scholars were able to look at all the book, create wishlists, or make their own purchases.  Don't forget our Literature Celebration is this Friday Nov. 20th.  We can't wait to see what they come dressed as.

Joke of the week:
There's water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink.  Where am I?

Last week's answer:
A stamp.

Math:
Unit 5, Shapes is coming to an end.  Kindergarten mathematicians have engaged in many hands-on activities as they have built and deconstructed 3-d shapes and used flat shapes to trace and create pictures.  We will have an end of unit assessment next week and then move on to our next unit:  Patterns.  We will be naming and building patterns by color, shape and size

Literature
This week scholars will began their next literary journey with a well beloved fairy tale: Cinderella.

Our Poem will be Three Blind Mice:

Three Blind Mice

A Mother Goose Poem

Three blind mice,

Three blind mice,

See how they run!

See how they run!

They all ran after the farmer’s wife,

Who cut off their tails with a carving knife,

Did you ever see such a sight in your life,

As three blind mice?

Scholar’s will continue to read Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle advice to the parents and neighborhood children.

Spalding
This week in Spalding, we reviewed all the learned material.  Next week scholars will continue working on their pink notebook and will be introduced to new phonograms.

Science
In Science, we also ended our Plants unit with a Plants Piece Suncatcher and began a new unit on Weather and Seasons.
Our scholars will continue the Weather unit and will learn about Clouds/Precipitation and Thunderstorms.

History
This past week in History, we wrapped up our Continents unit with an assessment on Friday.
Our scholars will begin a new unit on Pilgrims.

Literature Celebration Day Friday Nov. 20th
November 20th, students can come to school dressed as a favorite book character, or a historical figure they have studied. We'll celebrate and read all throughout the day!
Costumes need to show off our classical literature or a historical figure the student has studied from our curriculum (Costumes cannot be pop-culture). The costume must cover the same parts of the body as the school uniform, so ensure students wear short sleeves and that their costume reaches to their knees. No masks, face paint or makeup will be allowed as a part of a costume (however, students should wear their regular mask). Recess will continue to be held, so a costume that allows free movement is also required. Students who do not wish to wear a costume should come to school in the regular
uniform. On this special day, students may bring their own books to school. For Dorothy, your scholar must wear the silver shoes from the book not the ruby slippers from the movie.

Uniform Infractions:
Uniform infractions will be sent home for all scholars not in proper uniform.
Please look at your parent/student handbook for uniform compliance.  If you are unsure, please contact your child's teacher.
