Riddle of the week
I hang in the sky, as birds pass me by, but im always connected to the ground. I dance in the breeze and I soar up high without making a sound.
What am I?

Last week's answer:

January 18th, No school
Independent Study days/ Teacher conference:
January 19th-21st
Independent study presentations, January 22

Spalding:

Math:
Before our Holiday Break, Kindergarten Mathematicians were comparing objects and using precise vocabulary and complete sentences to convey mathematical ideas regarding size.

This week we will continue to investigate measurement as we begin to weigh items and use precise vocabulary to compare and contrast objects based upon how heavy or light something is and how a balance scale helps us determine which object is heavier than another.

History:
Before the break in History, we continued our unit on Pilgrims and learned about the Plymouth Colony and the Pilgrims first Thanksgiving. Science: In Science, we continued our Weather and Seasons unit and learned about Fall and Tornadoes.
Literature: Before our break, scholars delved into the classic fairy tale of Snow White
This week we will enjoy the great story of The Velveteen Rabbit.  Scholars will search for Truth, Goodness and Beauty as they complete a story map, analyze characters, discuss the central problem and resulting solution and end the week with a craft.

Virtue of the month for January:  Courage
We always do what we know to be right despite fear, hardship, and opposition.  We resist negative peer pressure, defend our rights and the rights of others, and encourage others to do the same.  Overcome struggle with heart.
