Math:
This week scholars learned that “weight is how heavy something is” and we used a balance scale to compare and contrast the weight of objects. Scholars investigated weighing objects using a variety of reference objects and predicting the outcome. Scholars learned that estimates are not right or wrong...they are either reasonable or unreasonable.
Next week we will begin our exciting new unit: Capacity. Capacity is how much a container can hold. A container is an object that holds materials. We will explore capacity with exciting demonstrations and hands-on opportunities.
Literature:
Last week in Literature, scholars delved into the classic fairy tale of Snow White.
This week we will enjoy the great story of The Velveteen Rabbit. Scholars will search for Truth, Goodness and Beauty as they complete a story map, analyze characters, discuss the central problem and resulting solution and end the week with a craft.
History:
This past week in History, our scholars were introduced to our Native Americans unit
and their cultural regions in the United States. Scholars will deep dive into
each region and their tribe for the next couple of weeks. Our scholars will continue our Native Americans unit and their cultural regions and
each region and their tribe for the next couple of weeks. Our scholars will continue our Native Americans unit and their cultural regions and
the primary tribe for that region. Scholars will learn about the similarities
and differences between each tribe and region.

Virtue of the month for January: Courage
