Kinder Blog 6 Nov.

Hello Kinder!  Our scholars are hard at work learning to read.  Its been such a joy to watch them sound out words and put the sounds together and read.  It is definitely one of my favorite things about teaching Kinder.  The sense of accomplishment they feel when they are able to read a word.  Keep practicing those phonograms with them everyday and keep encouraging them to not give up.  We are so proud of them!

No school on Monday December 7th

Joke of the week:
There are a few stones, a carrot, and a scarf lying on the lawn.  No one put them there.  How did they get there?

Last week's answer:
A glove.

Please make sure to check your scholars uniform everyday.  We will be sending infractions home if they are out of uniform.
Please check the family handbook for reference.

Last week in mathematics our scholars wrapped up the unit on patterns and moved on to learning about length and size. Literature
The previous week, scholars were able to hear different versions of the Gingerbread Boy/Baby/Man themes a well known short story.  This week we will return to a fairy tale and review the elements to a very tale (characters, setting, problem, resolution, plot, magical  elements).  We will read “King Midas and The Golden Touch”.

Scholars will be memorizing “The Three Little Kittens” in 2 parts for over a period of 2 weeks beginning with part 1 below:

Three Little Kittens By Eliza Lee Follen
Three little kittens lost their mittens And they began to cry. “Oh, mother dear, We very much fear That we have lost our mittens.” “Lost your mittens! You naughty kittens! Then you shall have no pie!” “Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.” “No, you shall have no pie.” “Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.”

Scholar’s will continue the read aloud with “The Mouse and The Motorcycle”.

Highlights
This Wednesday is our first quarter party:  The Shapes Extravaganza!  We will be learning about and celebrating shapes.  Thank you to all of our parents who so generously filled our supply list. Please bring an extra old t-shirt for your scholar so that they don't get paint on their uniform. The t-shirt will only go over their uniform shirt during painting.
