Math:
This past week in Math the students began to compare sets.  We counted objects in sets and used specific vocabulary to describe if the two sets were equal or unequal.  If the two sets were not equal the students used the strategy of one-to-one matching to determine which set had more.  Students used the phrases:  equal, ...more than… and ...fewer than.  When students provided an answer we challenged them to describe the processes used to defend their conclusion using unit specific vocabulary.
Next week Kindergartners will move to Textbook B (yay!) and begin to compare numbers and continue to hone unit specific vocabulary to explain their thought processes.
We are celebrating the 100th Day of School on Thursday, 4 February with fun and festive activities.  A homework assignment has been placed in your child’s folder.  Please reach out to you child’s teacher if you have any questions and consider donating to the festivities by accessing the signup genius link below:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e4fafaa2da4fe3-100th. Kindergarten is making  a call out for beaded necklaces.  If you have any on hand that you would like to donate please send them in with your child.  We will be using the beads to create manipulatives as we delve into place value.

History:
We will continue learning about different Cultural Regions.
Science: For Science, we will be introducing a new unit on Taking care of Earth.  We will discuss about how Earth provides all of there sources that humans needs to survive.  Some natural resources are limited, so people must be careful not to use too much of them.
Literature: We will continue learning about Aesop Fables, and morals in stories.  This week we will read The Story of the Jumping Mouse.  Scholars will dive deeper into the meaning of a moral, study characteristics, and learn about “give and take.”

Our read out loud right now is Stuart Little.
