Greetings Kinder! We are practicing counting numbers to 30. Scholars are learning about national symbols and the solar system, and participating in fun science and history activities. Parents, it is very important for children to stay hydrated when at home or at school, so please send a water bottle to school everyday. Friday is a holiday. Thank you!

Math:
We have wrapped up our mathematical unit on Addition (part, part whole) and Subtraction (whole, part, part) but will continue to hone these skills as the year progresses. This week we will be focusing on numbers to 30. We will deconstruct numbers in units of 10s and ones, use a place value chart, and focus on the order of numbers. If possible, have your scholar bring in a clean, empty egg carton. We will be using egg cartons to construct a ten frame.
This past week, we learned about another American Symbol-The Statue of Liberty!
Next week we will continue our study on American Symbols and will be introduced to Mount Rushmore.
Science:
This week we continue on our objects in the sky unit. We will introduce the 8 planets. Mercury is the smallest planet. Venus is the hottest. Earth is where we live. Mars is named after the Roman god of war. Jupiter is the largest planet. Saturn can be seen with our eyes. Uranus is often called the ice giant. And Neptune is the farthest planet. Please practice memorizing the order of the 8 planets and work on your Space Project.
Literature:
It has been so much fun learning about many different tall tales. As our time with them comes to a close, we will start reading about Little Bear and all of his adventures. This week we will begin reading our classics to keep. We will be reading 6 great works of literature as a grade level.
